Travellers Tales

A lesson to learn about car security

We had the misfortune to have our vehicle broken into at a popular tourist spot on the Sunshine Coast. On revisiting the site on the following day to look for a handbag which may have been tossed into the bush I took particular note of the car park. I was interested to see that the car park on close examination was crystal lined with broken glass which I hadn't noticed the previous day, there was even a perspex window that had a hole punched in it and then the whole window pulled out and discarded probally to gain access. In future we will be taking more notice of the surroundings when we park. ( we were only gone for approx 50 minutes) The sunshine coast is being hit pretty hard and that includes the hinterland and caravan parks. This happened at 10:30am on a thursday.
Take a good look at the surroundings you park in especially in quiet areas.
remember to keep the oily side down
The site in question was the Wild Horse Lookout (fire tower) just far enough out of Brisbane to stop and have a cuppa and stretch the legs. The main point is to check the surroundings for broken glass etc scattered around the carpark as it will be a sure sign of trouble.
