Back to News Briefs Our Club now has access to the CMCA Leave no Trace scheme
LEAVE NO TRACE Below is the beginning of a letter sent to our Club from the CMCA inviting our Club Members to join their LEAVE NO TRACE scheme. A link to this letter is below. Also attached is an application form and a SELF CONTAINMENT CODE OF PRACTICE that must accompany an application form and to be signed to agree that the applicant agrees to abide by this code of conduct. Dear Club President /Secretary,As part of our ongoing efforts in working with Councils and local authorities for the benefit of all mobile travellers, the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia Limited (CMCA) has established the Leave No Trace Self Containment Code of Conduct Scheme. This Scheme is designed to show authorities that self-contained vehicles need not have a negative impact on the environment, even if a campsite has no facilities. Mobile travellers who participate in the Leave No Trace Scheme must have an Accommodation Vehicle that meets the requirements for the holding capacity for fresh, grey and black water, as well as storage capacity for garbage waste. To qualify, a self-contained unit must have the ability to retain ALL waste within the confines of the unit, and leave no trace whatsoever of its visit to a site. Vehicle owners must sign a declaration that they will comply with the Leave No Trace Code of Conduct at all times. Accommodation Vehicles that have qualified for the Scheme display a sticker on the front windscreen, or in the case of a fifth wheeler or caravan, on the window closest to the entry door. The owner carries documentation of proof of their participation in the scheme, and this documentation must be produced upon request. Cheques to be made made payable to CMCA All applicants have to belong to a Caravan Club and we need to endorse your application before sending it on to the CMCA.
